DN-HC4500 Controller Mapping
We provide a new skin
designed for the 4500, which updates the controller
mapper that ships with Rockit, and adds some
functionality. You can download the skin/mapper
install on our skins page.

Each side works almost
identical, so we describe one side of the controller
(with additions where necessary).
From the top, left to
right. We will work our way down.
The Function buttons
labeled 1 - 5:
1 - Load Preset Song 1
2 - Load Preset Song 2
3 - Load Preset Song 3
4 - Load Preset Song 4
5 - Load next song in
that Deck's Queue (waitlist)
The Effects buttons,
labeled 1 - 3:
1 - Play Sound Effect #
1 Right 1 - Play Sound Effect # 4
2 - Play Sound Effect #
2 Right 2 - Play Sound Effect # 5
3 - Play Sound Effect #
3 Right 3 - Play Sound Effect # 6
Parameters Knob/Button:
Turning the knob, will
scroll through the Deck's Queue (waitlist). Pressing
the knob acts as a toggle for which list to scroll.
For example, the left side knob (Deck A), will
initially be set to scroll the deck's waitlist.
Pressing once, switches it to Deck B's queue, press
again, and it switches to the AutoMix Queue, press
again, and it scrolls through the main tracklist,
press again, and it scrolls through the search list,
press again, and it scrolls through the request
list, press again, and it's back to the Deck A
waitlist.
The knob on the right
(Deck B), works the same, only it starts on Deck B's
Queue.
The Playlist button:
This will load the song
that is selected in the list from the Parameters
knob above, into the corresponding deck.
Fast Search << >>:
These are Rewind and
Fast Forward of the track in the deck. They move
approx. one second of time either way. They are
mapped as hold down buttons in our mapper, so
holding them down, keeps them going.
Back button:
This is not used in our
mapper.
Pitch Bend minus and
plus:
They do exactly that.
They are mapped as hold down buttons, and the pitch
will stay "bent", as long as they are held down.
When they are released, the pitch goes back to
whatever it was prior.
Tap button:
This is identical on
each side of the controller, and puts the focus and
cursor into the Search Edit box in Rockit, so you
can simply type in your search text on the keyboard,
and hit Enter.
Time Button:
This is used as the
Restart button in Rockit, and will rewind the song
currently playing in the deck, to the start
position, and continue playing from there.
Memo button:
This is the Fadein
command on Rockit. If the song is stopped in a deck,
this will start the song, and gradually fade it in
volume wise, until it reaches whatever the current
Gain position was set.
Title button:
This is the Fadeout
command in Rockit. It will gradually fade the songs
volume/gain down to nothing, and then stop the song
playing.
Cont/Single:
This is the deck monitor
command in Rockit. This will switch the output of
the deck to the monitor sound card (if you have one
setup in Rockit's Audio Deck Properties).
Source button:
This is not used on
Rockit, as it is used to control the source on the
controller.
Flip button:
These are the Mix
Left/Mix Right commands in Rockit. The left deck
button will cause Rockit to start mixing from Deck B
to Deck A. The one on the right side will do the
opposite.
A1 button:
This sets the Loop In
time on Rockit.
A2 button:
This sets the Loop Out
time on Rockit.
B button:
This is the Start/Stop
Looping command in Rockit. If Rockit is not looping,
it will start, if it is looping, it will stop
looping, and return to regular play.
Exit/Reloop:
This is set to open the
Audio Deck Properties on Rockit, as it has no
corresponding command in Rockit.
Cue button:
This is the Stop command
in Rockit.
Play/Pause:
Does just that.
Jog Mode:
This toggles the wheels
on and off on the controller. It has no effect on
the wheels on the skin. The wheels are set to OFF by
default.
Jog Wheel:
These rewind or fast
forward in Rockit. They are very sensitive, which is
why they are turned off by default. You need to
develop a very light touch and motion, in order to
get these to work well in Rockit. We prefer to use
the RW/FF buttons noted above, as they work much
better with Rockit.
Range button:
This toggles the slider
from Pitch to Gain on Rockit.
Pitch slider:
By default, this is set
to control the Pitch on Rockit. By pressing the
Range button above, it will switch back and forth
between Pitch and Gain.
Please note, that
the controller has the plus at the bottom, but it is
opposite on Rockit. Sliding up will increase the
pitch or gain on Rockit, and sliding down will
decrease, respectively. |
